Village enterprise

Village Enterprise’s mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and collective action.

Working with those who are most impacted by climate change, conflict, and displacement, Village Enterprise equips vulnerable women, refugees, and youth with the training, resources, and mentorship to launch climate-smart businesses, build savings, and ultimately break the generational traps of extreme poverty. Examples of businesses include retail stores, livestock, farming and agriculture, tailoring, beekeeping, and more.

For over 30 years, Village Enterprise has worked in communities where most people live on $2.15 a day or less. Over 97% of their team is African and more than 82% of their business owners are female. To date, Village Enterprise has impacted the lives of more than 1.6 million people in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, and Mozambique.
